Collection: William Hubbard (1804-1870)

William Hubbard was a celebrated English watercolourist and textile designer whose work captured the idyllic charm of 19th-century Kent.

A designer for the renowned Swaisland’s fabric printing factory, Hubbard was a master of floral pattern and detail, often drawing inspiration from the botanical gardens tended by his wife, Mary.

Beyond his textiles, Hubbard is remembered for his evocative landscape paintings of Crayford and the surrounding countryside. A self-taught talent who exhibited at London’s Grosvenor Gallery.
